Tram Lady pleads not guilty

From the Beeb...
A woman has pleaded not guilty over an alleged racist rant on a tram in south London, which has been seen online 11 million times.

Emma West, 34, of New Addington, south London, appeared at Croydon Crown Court charged with two counts of racially-aggravated public order offences, one with intent to cause fear.

She was arrested in November after footage, filmed on a Croydon-to-Wimbledon tram, was posted on YouTube.

She will stand trial on 11 June.

Emma is at liberty but sadly her two children have been taken into care. The "rant" video is still on YouTube but is now "private".

We're not supporting misinformed wild, racist outbursts are we? Most of the people she was shouting at appeared to be on their way home from work, from crappy jobs that nobody "English" can be bothered to do these days. There are plenty of jobs around, unfortunately plenty of young UK born unemployed are too cool for school (or work).

This blog does not endorse Miss West's language. However it does support her right to free speech - and very much agrees with her sentiments.

Considering what ethnic minorities get away with saying and doing, Miss West's prosecution is nothing sort of outrageous.

Anyone who is a regular traveller on London Transport sees bad behaviour most days and mostly by people of non-British heritage.

Old fashioned courtesy, queues at bus-stops have been displaced in favour of giant scrums to get on first, followed by blocked entrances, as the first people on also insist on being the first people off.

We never saw what triggered off Emma's outburst but we can all too well imagine.

The police curiously have not arrested all the You Tubers who threatened to kill/rape her and her son, despite masses of video evidence.

I agree Bevois.

However I would say that letting people off a bus or train before attempting to get on yourself is only common sense.
