Emma West, update

For those of you who are following the trials and tribulations of Emma West, tram lady: her trial at Croydon Crown Court has been postponed for a 4th time and she is now due to go before a jury starting on Monday the 4th of March.

Emma West: "Tram lady"

The reasons for all the delays are not really clear. Emma is maintaining her Not Guilty position even after having served a month in jail.  The authorities clearly are not willing to back down but equally are not used to determined opposition in the face of charges of "hate" crimes. They also have the problem that quite a number of black people have also been videoed on buses and trams etc mouthing off in a far more serious manner than Emma, including threats to kill! The prosecution of Emma would require these people to be prosecuted as well - especially if Emma is convicted. Hence it seems they do not really want a conviction and so are continually kicking the can down the road and hoping it will eventually get lost, possibly by the court ruling "abuse of process" and throwing the case out.
